After-School Program

At our Horseheads Branch, we offer a year-round school-age program. Children are cared for in classrooms separated by age group. During the school-year, busing from Horseheads Elementary Schools is available. Homework time, outdoor and/or gym play, anti-bullying lessons, social responsibility themes, and mini sports camps are offered throughout the school year. Full-day care for the summer, school holidays and school closing are available. Full-day care is open to non-Horseheads school district residents as space allows.

School Breaks and Days Off

On days that the Horseheads School District is closed (including summer), the Center provides a full-day program. This program is on a first-come/first-serve basis with priority given to those who attend year-round.

Summer Program

A Summer Camp is offered following the week school ends until the Friday before Labor Day. Chemung Valley Early Care and Learning aims to provide high quality school age care for Kindergarten through Sixth grade children. The program includes activities which encourage creativity, independence, responsibility and fun. The staff prepares weekly plans which include a wide range of supervised activities. The children are involved in the planning of activities. Creative Expression, Indoor/Outdoor Sports and Games, Special Projects and Events, Daily Breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack. Character Enrichment activities and community service projects are a few things the children are encourage to participate in. All activities are designed to promote positive self-esteem, appreciation, and respect for each child's background and culture.
